The toaster market today is almost entirely dominated by Asian production – most manufacturers stay silent on where their devices are actually made, or have long since moved their own production to Asia. Even brands that market “Made in Germany” for other product lines sometimes have their toasters built in the Far East.
On this page, we introduce two manufacturers that publicly document their production location specifically for toasters – including the UK’s own Dualit, whose Classic and NewGen ranges are hand-assembled in Crawley, England.
Dualit and Ritter are two of the few exceptions with clearly communicated European production for toasters – including a genuine UK manufacturer.
Good to know: A brand that markets “Made in Germany” for its core product range doesn’t automatically make its toasters there too – for some German heritage brands, the toaster model specifically turns out to be made in Asia, even while their core range (e.g. food slicers) genuinely is manufactured in Germany. It’s also worth looking within a single brand’s own toaster lineup: Dualit, for instance, only states hand-assembly in the UK for its Classic/NewGen range, not for its full product range. Ritter, and Dualit’s Classic/NewGen range specifically, are among the few cases where the origin claim demonstrably holds at the individual model level.
Good to know: A “Made in Germany” brand doesn’t automatically mean the toaster itself is made there. With Dualit and Ritter, the origin claim demonstrably covers the toaster.

Ritter
🇩🇪 Made in Germany
Ritter has built its Volcano toaster range entirely in Gröbenzell, near Munich, for more than 120 years. The family-owned company, founded in 1905, is one of the few toaster manufacturers worldwide that genuinely produce in Europe – and not just as a general company claim, but specifically for the toasters themselves. Having design and manufacturing under one roof allows for short supply chains and consistent quality control.
Ritter has built its toasters entirely in Gröbenzell, Bavaria, for over 120 years – one of the few manufacturers worldwide with genuinely European toaster production.
