Fracino
🇬🇧 Made in Britain
Fracino, based in Aston, Birmingham, describes itself as the UK’s only manufacturer of cappuccino and espresso coffee machines — a claim backed up by its official accreditation from the Made in Britain scheme. Around 90% of every machine’s components, including its own copper boilers and brass group heads, are fabricated, machined and assembled at the company’s 50,000 sq ft facility from British-sourced steel and copper, rather than being imported and simply assembled. Founded in 1963 and now run by the third generation of the same family, Fracino exports to more than 70 countries and was even name-checked by then-Prime Minister David Cameron in a 2011 speech on British manufacturing success. It’s worth noting that Fracino’s range is primarily built for cafés, hotels and restaurants — but the company’s own website confirms its machines are also installed in private homes, and the range includes bean-to-cup models suited to home use.
Fracino manufactures in Birmingham, UK — around 90% of components made in-house from British steel and copper. Described as the UK’s only cappuccino/espresso machine maker; primarily hospitality- focused, but also sold for home use.

ECM
🇩🇪 Made in Germany + Italy site
ECM, based in Bammental near Heidelberg, is one of the few espresso machine makers to openly and precisely break down where each of its models is built. The family business, founded in 1996, runs two in-house manufactories: Bammental produces the dual-boiler Synchronika model, all its grinders and the commercial machines, while the single- and dual-circuit models of the Home-Line — among them Mechanika, Technika and Classika — continue to be built at a dedicated manufactory in Milan. Originally founded in partnership with an Italian partner, ECM brought design and development fully in-house in Germany from 2005 onwards, while continuing to expand its own manufacturing in both countries. This clear model-to-site match makes ECM one of the more transparent manufacturers in this segment.
ECM builds at two in-house manufactories: Bammental, Germany (the Synchronika, grinders, commercial machines) and Milan, Italy (the Home-Line, e.g. Mechanika, Technika).

Gaggia
🇮🇹 Made in Italy
Gaggia is one of the most storied names in espresso — the company is widely credited as the inventor of the modern lever espresso machine. According to its own statements on gaggia.com, since the Anima line returned to the Gaggio Montano production site near Bologna in May 2018, the entire range of super-automatic machines has been built there, alongside the manual Classic, Carezza Deluxe and Carezza Style models. Gaggia is unusually open about its own history: the Classic line was temporarily produced in Romania in 2015 before manufacturing was brought fully back to Italy. This kind of transparency about past relocations is rare in this market.
Gaggia has manufactured fully in Gaggio Montano, near Bologna, since May 2018 — with open disclosure of an earlier, since-reversed move to Romania.

Rancilio
🇮🇹 Made in Italy
Rancilio was founded in 1927 by Roberto Rancilio in Parabiago, near Milan, and has concentrated its manufacturing at the Villastanza di Parabiago site since it was expanded in 1972. The company openly states on its official site that it sees itself as an ambassador of “Made in Italy”, and also shows its own production facilities, including the photovoltaic installation added in 2010 across the 8,000 square metre roof of the manufacturing hall. Alongside its professional lever machines, the same site also produces the well-known Homeline machine “Rancilio Silvia”, which has been one of the most popular entry-level machines for home use since its launch in 1997. Since 2013, Rancilio has been part of the Italian Ali Group, a global foodservice equipment supplier — production in Parabiago was unaffected by the acquisition.
Rancilio has manufactured in Villastanza di Parabiago, near Milan, since 1972 — also home to the well-known “Silvia” machine for home use.
